BraveGirlsProject

We want to see more confident, able black girls in Africa - who have the foundations to grow into climate leaders and activists.

To do this our Brave Girls Project provides bi-monthly in person workshops for young black girls and women in Cape Town. It equips the beneficiaries with basic knowledge and awareness of self, social and environment.

BRAVE GIRLS PROJECT:

Aims to see more young black girls running their own projects and campaigns.
Works with 40 black girls between the ages of 9 - 11.
Works with beneficiaries based in Cape Town, South Africa
Girls can join until they turn 12. They can then join the Rising in Leadership Programme
This programme holds bi-monthly workshops led by Rising in Leadership beneficiaries.

How it works

This project helps beneficiaries start clubs, projects and campaigns in their own communities, working with expert partners. These projects focus on four areas: women and water, clean air now, period power and food justice. It equips the beneficiaries with basic knowledge and awareness of self, social and environment. It is a space filled with creativity, interactions, and learning. It works with black girls between the ages of 9 and 11 from eight communities around Cape Town. The Brave Girls Project hosts monthly workshops facilitated by our expert partners and bi-monthly workshops facilitated by our Rising in Leadership leaders, who are in their third – fifth year of the programme.

How Rising Brave Girls Project fits with our other programmes?

The facilitators in this programme are beneficiaries from the Rising in Leadership Programme. Children in our Brave Girls Project can go on to join our Rising in Leadership Programme.
