RISING INeducationscholarship

We want to see more young black women excelling in their education, allowing them to become active in leadership positions.

To do this, our Rising in Education Scholarship Fund supports a selection of young black women that are part of our Rising in Leadership Programme through their high school education.

THE Rising in Education Scholarship Fund:

Aims to see more young black women excel at high school.

Works with participants based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Supports recipients for the duration of their high school.

Covers tuition fees, transport and data costs. Provides learning support and mentorship.

Currently, there are four recipients - all from the Rising in Leadership Programme.

How it works

Currently, this programme sponsors four young women to attend Curro DigiEd School – a technologically advanced high school that focuses on science, mathematics and technology. This scholarship supports recipients by covering all high school tuition fees and assistance with data and transport costs. Black Girls Rising also provides coaching and mentorship to these recipients. This ensures a holistic support for young black girls that need support to complete – and excel – in their high school education. Recipients of this fund are existing beneficiaries in the Rising in Leadership Programme and are selected upon applications.

How does this connect with our other programmes?

Selected recipients of the Rising in Education Scholarship Fund are existing beneficiaries in the Rising in Leadership Programme.
